Privacy Policy

Chief Electronics ("the app", "we", "us") is a product catalog application that lets customers browse the products, prices, and contact details of the Chief Electronics shop. This policy explains what information the app handles and how it is used.

1. Information we collect from customers

None. The app does not require registration, sign-in, or the entry of any personal details to browse the catalog. We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, locations, contacts, photos, or any other personal information from customers.

Like any internet-connected app, browsing the catalog sends network requests to our backend provider (Supabase). Standard technical information such as IP address may appear in transient server logs operated by that provider for security and reliability purposes; we do not use this information to identify anyone.

2. Contact and map buttons

The app provides buttons to call the shop, message it on WhatsApp, or open its location in a maps app. Tapping these buttons opens the corresponding external application (your phone dialer, WhatsApp, or maps app). Any communication or data exchanged there happens outside our app and is governed by the privacy policy of that external service. We do not receive, store, or process the content of those calls or messages.

3. Information we collect from shop administrators

This applies only to shop staff who sign in to the password-protected admin area:

• Account credentials — an email address and password, used solely to authenticate staff. Authentication is handled by Supabase Auth; passwords are stored in hashed form and are never visible to us.
• Product photos — with the device's photo library permission, administrators can select images to upload as product pictures. Only the images explicitly selected are uploaded; the app does not scan or access any other photos. Uploaded images are stored on Supabase Storage and are displayed publicly in the product catalog.

4. Information collected automatically

• App updates — the app uses Expo Application Services (EAS Update) to deliver bug fixes. To serve the correct update, basic non-identifying information (platform, app version) is sent to Expo's servers.
• Crash reports and analytics — none. The app contains no analytics or crash-reporting SDKs.

5. Third-party services

The app relies on the following service providers to function:

• Supabase — database, file storage, and admin authentication.
• Expo (EAS) — application build and update delivery.

We do not sell, rent, or share any personal information with any other third party.

6. Data retention and deletion

Customer data: none is collected, so there is nothing to retain or delete. Administrator account data is retained for as long as the staff member needs access to the admin area and is deleted when access is revoked. Administrators may request deletion of their account and associated data at any time by contacting us at the address below.

7. Children's privacy

The app does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. The app's content (an electronics product catalog) is suitable for general audiences.

8. Security

All communication between the app and our backend is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS. Admin access is protected by password authentication, and database access rules restrict all write operations to authenticated administrators.

9. Changes to this policy

If we make changes to this policy, we will post the updated version at this address and update the effective date above. Material changes (such as introducing customer accounts) will be reflected in an updated policy before they take effect.
